Ice cream and deals! Perfect for rainy weather because there’s never a bad time for deals or ice cream.

2 for $2 Cendol Mr Softee

[DEALS]⁣⁣Enjoy our legendary Mr. Softee at a special deal that is out of this world 🌎⁣⁣Till 27 Oct, get 2 cups for…

Posted by 7-Eleven Singapore on Tuesday, 29 September 2020

⁣By the way, if you look at the picture properly, it says “Valid from 28 Sep to 27 Oct 2021“.

And the 7-Eleven website actually says “03 August 2020 – 18 October 2020″, so I’m going to take the middle ground here and go with 27 October 2020.

7-Eleven, feel free to close the deal whenever you like if that’s what the confusion is for.

Anyway, here’s the caption in the posts if you can’t load that:

“Enjoy our legendary Mr. Softee at a special deal that is out of this world 🌎

Till 27 Oct, get 2 cups for only $2! That’s twice the nostalgia, twice the creamy goodness, twice the fun!⁣

Share this amazing deal with friends and family today and enjoy the Chendol soft-serve wonder at a 7-Eleven near you today*!⁣

*7-Eleven Mr. Softee Store List here: https://www.7-eleven.com.sg/OfferDetail”

In other words, it’s exactly as it says in the title. Cendol Mr Softee is being sold and it’s being sold for cheap.

You’ll actually save $1 from this deal because the original price per Mr Softee is $1.50.

Remember that it’s a two-cup situation, so you may need to beg your friend or friends to join you. Or not, no shame.

If you somehow don’t know what cendol is, Wikipedia says its “an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup”.

Image: Wikipedia

So basically imagine something coconut-y with that gula melaka flavour in the form of a silky ice cream cup. I’m starting to crave it just writing about it.

A Nostalgic Treat

I’ll admit, I haven’t had it and I wasn’t aware it’s a thing but apparently, this is something older kids will identify as a part of their childhood and it made a splash when it came back after a decade.

In fact, 7-Eleven recently held the exact same deal for the exact same item and it was awesome and exciting, but that’s not important.

This one lasts till 27 October and it’s available at many more outlets than the last time.

I won’t paste the list here because it’s very very extensive and my editor will actually kill me but here’s it is.

For an actual shot of how it looks (all credits to Eatbook).

Singapore Airlines will not be offering a ‘flight to nowhere’ after reviewing factors

Lobang: https://www.moneydigest.sg/singapore-airlines-will-not-be-offering-a-flight-to-nowhere-after-reviewing-factors/

Were you anticipating Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) ‘flight to nowhere’? While some may treat it as a joke, others are dying to get on a plane, even if it means landing back on home ground. That’s why earlier in August, Taiwan’s EVA Airlines offered something similar on a Hello Kitty-themed plane. It was definitely a well-received ‘getaway’ for some grounded travellers.

But we’ve just received news that SIA will not go ahead with their ‘flight to nowhere’ plan following a review of factors. This includes environmental implications and financial viability.

“An idea for a one-off short tour flight, or a ‘flight to nowhere’, was also initially considered but not pursued after the review,” said SIA.

With that said, the public can instead look forward to a range of new experiences launched by SIA. Discover Your Singapore Airlines is the theme behind the airline’s latest curation with these activities:

Those who’ve always been curious about SIA’s training program will be able to take a look at how their training is conducted. The tour will also feature the latest cabin products and flight simulators.

Peeps who are bringing kids along will be glad to know that there are complimentary craft activities. Engage with hands-on activities prepared for you like shaping balloons into animals and making your own batik roses.

ONE DAY ONLY: StarHub offering iPhone 11 Pro Max for $20 (U.P. $770) on 29 Sep 20

Lobang: https://www.moneydigest.sg/one-day-only-starhub-offering-iphone-11-pro-max-for-20-u-p-770-on-29-sep-20/

Get the iPhone 11 Pro Max for $20

We’re not kidding. StarHub has announced that they are offering the iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB) for only $20 today, 29 September 2020. Promotion will end today, 29 September 2020 23:59 hrs.

You would be required to sign up a mobile plan with them at $95 per month for 2 years.

Is this worth it?

Paying $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB is definitely worth it but what if you bundled it with a 2-year plan from StarHub?

You get 60GB of data, 600 minutes, 600SMS and other perks such as free 12month Starhub TV+, Caller Number Display and more.

To see if this deal is worth it, you’d want to compare how much StarHub has charged for the iPhone 11 Pro Max when you sign a 2-year contract with them.

Here’s the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s pricing table from hardwarezone.com.sg when it was first launched:

Table via hardwarezone.com.sg

As you can see, $95/month is somewhere between the $75/month and $105/month plans. The $95/month plan consists of 60GB data, 600 minutes and 600 SMS so you are not being shortchanged here.

But look, now you are just paying a one-time fee of $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB) instead of $770. This is really a good deal as you’d have to fork out $953 for the handset if you sign up for the $75/month plan on other days. (or $704 for the handset if you sign up for the $105/month plan)

Doing the maths

How much do you have to pay in total if you go ahead and sign up for the plan?

  • $95 per month for 24 months = $95 * 24 = $2,280
  • $20 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB
  • Total: $2,300

If you get the handset directly from Apple, it will cost you $1,799.

Now, let’s work backwards.

  • $2,300 – $1,799 = $501
  • $501/24 = $20.88/month

So you are paying $501 or $20.88/month for a 2-year contract with StarHub.

For 60GB of data, 600 minutes, 600SMS and all the other perks, you pay just $20.88 a month. Totally worth it.
