Grab might only have existed in Singapore for less than 6 years but we can no longer imagine a Singapore without them.

Late for an appointment? Just Grab (pun intended, heh).

Need to be somewhere early in the morning? Take a Grab instead of waking up at an ungodly hour.

Have to leave the office for an appointment but your office is deep within an industrial area? Use the Grab app.

Yes, we can no longer live without this ride-hailing service.

Which is why when Grab said they won’t continue with their promo codes, we went.

Now, with new ride-hailing apps competing in this competitive industry, everybody was expecting Grab to start throwing out promo codes again.

In fact, we were kind of looking forward to it, since not only does it make rides cheaper, it also affirms what we’ve always thought.

That Grab’s removing promo codes because there’s no more competition and their “longer-term” value was nothing but PR.

But they didn’t.

So fans of Grab like us were half-disappointed and half-happy.

We’re happy that Grab isn’t simply patronising us, but goddamnit, we want cheaper rides.

But does that mean that all hope is lost?

Will we have to pay more (than what we used to pay) for Grab rides?

Nope. Singaporeans will do anything to get a better deal out of everything.

And seeing as Goody Feed is made up of true-blue Singaporeans, you know we’ve managed to find some.

Here are five ways to make your next few Grab rides cheaper if you use Grab all the time. And we’ve even rated them for you ?

1. Grab’s Subscription Plans

Now, say you don’t need something so complicated like SCORE.

And instead of having something so comprehensive, you’re interested in something a bit more flexible.

Seeing as it’s 2019, all I can say is, wish granted.

Just recently, Grab came up with the ultimate promo programme ever, with a nice balance between price and flexibility.

According to their tagline: No two people are the same. Neither is the way you ride or eat. So it only makes sense for you to be able to choose how much you want to save, where you want to save, and when.

For example, you frequently take Grab rides but don’t really like getting food delivered to you?

You can simply go for the Commute plans that Grab has.

Depending on your usage, you can choose to go for the Lite ($4 OFF 10 rides), Basic ($10 OFF 10 rides) or Extra ($10 OFF 20 rides) Commute plan available.

So if you’re someone who only takes Grab when you need to rush somewhere, and you know you typically take 10 rides or more a month, you can go for the Commute Plan (Lite) and save $21 instantly.

The best part?

Let’s say after signing up for the Lite plan, you realise that you’re a pretty frequent user of GrabFood too.

You can either choose to tahan the rest of the month and get the All Access plan next month, or you can choose to subscribe to Grab’s Food Plan (which gives you free food delivery).

Then cancel the subscription before the next bill cycle and go for the All-Access plans.

Whichever you like, after all, it’s supposed to be super customisable.

Note: You can’t sign up for multiple plans under the same category: for example, if you have a Commute (Lite) plan, you can’t subscribe for Commute (Basic) or Commute (Extra) plans in the same month.

2. GrabRewards Stamp Card

You’re familiar with how stamp cards work, right? Typically used at restaurants, you get a certain amount of stamps and you’ll get a bowl of something good. Free.

The GrabRewards Stamp Card campaign works the same way.

From now until 10 Mar 2019, gold and platinum members will be given a stamp card to fill every week.

One ride will net you one stamp if you pay via GrabPay credits.

And if you managed to fill a certain number of stamps, you’ll get pretty sweet ride discounts.

**1-star was taken out because it’s not a permanent promo.

3. Shopee Promo Codes

You’re familiar with online shopping, especially for cheaper clothes, toilet bowls, food from other countries and even a cat from Taobao.

But did you know that you can actually grab Grab promo codes via online shopping too?

Shopee is known for selling almost everything you can possibly need. Including Grab promo codes.

Promo codes that can net you 15% off like the one shown above

Shopee sells them in denominations of $5, $10, $15 and $20.

The only detraction for this is two-fold: one, it’s pretty troublesome, although the (small amount of) Shopee coins is pretty sweet.

And two, it’s not exactly 15% off your entire ride. It’s 15% off the first (denomination), then you’d have to pay the rest at normal rates.

4. Purchase Vouchers with Reward Points

This is pretty self-explanatory.

Every time you successfully take a Grab ride, you’ll be given GrabReward points.

The points can be used for a variety of rewards, be it deals with existing partners, for travel, or, you guessed it, ride vouchers.

The good thing about this reward scheme is that it’s a supplementary benefit.

That means, even if you’ve used other promo codes or vouchers, you’ll still earn points from the ride anyway.

And once you accumulate enough points, you can get yourself a voucher that’ll take at least $5 off your next right.

The only problem? You got to spend a heck of a lot more to enjoy these vouchers.

But hey, as I’ve said, supplementary, right?

5. SCORE

Now, you’re thinking of: soccer. Don’t.

With SCORE, what you’re doing is scoring a good deal.
