Remember the 50 cents hot kopi/teh deal that was launched last year?

NTUC Fairprice Freezing Prices Of Selected Items

If you’re in charge of getting groceries for the house and you realised the price of FairPrice Jasmine Rice has been at $7.90 for the past year, that’s because the supermarket chain has been doing some price-fixing of their own.

NTUC Fairprice, as you can probably tell from the name, is part of NTUC and they’re doing their part for Singapore by freezing prices of 100 daily essential house brand items.

The items include rice, poultry, oil, beverages, batteries, toiletries and household cleaners.

Basically everything you need to survive from day to day lah, so don’t expect premium vegan kimchi or something along those lines.

They are also extending discounts for seniors until 31 Dec 2020 so get your mom to go buy groceries for you so let your elderly parents know, okay?

The price freeze, NTUC Fairprice says, not only help people in Singapore to save more but also forces the prices of general everyday essentials to stay affordable.

Just think of it this way: would a rice seller sell his rice at $10 if he knows NTUC Fairprice sells it at $6.90?

Probably not.

But at least this time, it works in our favour, eh?
